Partner with Career Services
Students often turn to faculty and staff when exploring their career aspirations and goals. Career Services thanks you for providing them with support, assistance and referrals. Here are some of the ways that we can work together:

Classroom Presentations/Don’t Cancel Class: Career Services staff are able to present on a variety of career-related topics. Please email us to request a presentation.
Resume/Cover Letter Reviews: documents can be reviewed by our staff during career counseling appointments, as well as appointments specifically for reviews as a class assignment. Students can also email their documents to our office for review, but this is generally the slowest method for response.
Mock Interviews: students can access pre-recorded mock interview questions in the Wildcat Career Network, record their responses, and even email you the link once they are done! In addition, our staff can conduct mock interviews for class assignments. Please encourage your students to book appointments early, as we do get busy toward the end of each quarter.
Career Counseling/Assessments: if students are struggling to decide on a major/career path, send them our way!
Graduate School: we can help with the application process, including personal statements and CVs.
Events/Workshops: numerous workshops and events are held each quarter. You can see the entire list of offerings or go to our upcoming career events page to learn about future career fairs. Please encourage your students to attend these events, even as underclassmen; the benefits of networking and information-gathering cannot be overstated!
Professional Clothing Closet (PCC): students get free interview-appropriate clothes from our clothing closet for professional use (interviews, conferences, career fairs, etc.). If you have a professional dress requirement for a course assignment, please make sure to refer students to the PCC!
Access to Help: we are a free service for faculty, staff, students, and alumni, open all year long with staff in Ellensburg, Des Moines, and Lynnwood. We also offer virtual appointments and have some Saturday availability. Please consider using us for your own career development!
Share Your Expertise: contribute to our virtual career center by sharing their own content, which can be “tagged” to specific communities/groups of students. As a site guest (click on “guest” at the top of our homepage), you can submit blog posts and events to be shared. What kind of content might you share? Here are some best practices to consider:
- Share the wealth: As an expert in a specific field, offer industry expertise and leverage your ethos to fix students’ attention on a skill set they might consider developing.
- Keep abreast: As you monitor relevant industry trends, share your findings on our site. Let students know what interested you about the article and include a link to it in your post.
- Provide course recommendations: Promote featured classes to students to help them connect academic and career success. Target posts to specific groups of students by tagging your content to ‘Career Communities’ pages
Let’s Collaborate!: Our team is always open to new ideas and initiatives to engage our students in the process of career exploration and development. If you have an idea or just want to work with us on something, please email us!
Academic Internships: our staff registers students for academic internships and is an excellent resource for questions regarding the process. You can also refer to this Faculty Internship Guide.
Supervisors of Student Staff: Connect Class to Career with CWU ANCHOR

What is ANCHOR?
CWU ANCHOR is a program designed by Career Services and Human Resources professionals which uses brief structured conversations between student employees and their supervisors to make the connection between class and career more visible.

Who’s it for?
ANCHOR is for any supervisor of CWU student employees who is interested in helping their staff connect their academic experience with career readiness and build stronger professional development skills while working on campus.

What’s the commitment?
Meetings for ANCHOR participants are held on a semi-monthly basis for about an hour. Additional commitment time includes meeting and speaking briefly with student staff throughout each quarter. Supervisors should not need to spend more than 1 hour per month on ANCHOR.
