The community psychology program covers schools, women’s programs, human rights issues, corporate social responsibility, and other development tasks in grassroots Africa.

Your placement focuses on children in poverty, children and youth with disabilities, orphaned children, unemployed youth, women in poverty, people with HIV, people recovering from trauma and addiction, older people, artists, teachers, etc.
We provide in-country orientation training and academic tutoring for the program.
Paid internships include a local minimum wage/stipend of USD 50 per month.
Academic-level team leaders are supervising your internship. In addition, we monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you proceed well in your study program.
The internship outcome is to learn to use and get experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacitation. Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.
BASICS:
You receive USD 50 monthly, about 2x Tanzania’s national minimum wage. So, it’s not much, but there is some money to spend here, as the cost structure is low.
All International flights are personal costs and accommodation, meals, drinks, and entry VISA.
You only need a little money here for living costs. If you attend a safari, Mt Kilimanjaro climbs, etc., budget from USD 500 to USD 1600 depending on various student options.
Safety: Tanzania is safer than your home place.
Vaccinations: Only routine shots, such as tetanus, hepatitis, etc., that you keep valid.
Malaria: You can use preventive, but medication is straightforward if you get malaria.
Medical services: Many clinics and hospitals have easy access, and medication standards are excellent and nominal.
Please take standard travel insurance.
Working hours are 6-8 hours daily from Monday to Friday and can be adjusted.
This program teaches us to work in the developing world where capacitation and facilitation can be minimal.
