Description
This position supports the front desk team at Gallery One and assists with being the first point of entry for community members and visitors. The Assistant will report to the Operations Manager and support the Gift Shop, special events, and provide general administrative support for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Greeting and assist Gallery visitors in a friendly manner
- Field inquiries through the phone, email, or in-person and forward them to the appropriate individual when necessary
- Assist visitors with making purchases, memberships or workshop selections
- Light handling of artwork
- Light cleaning and maintenance
- Communicate when supplies are low
Preferred Qualifications
- Applied understanding of basic customer service
- Familiarity with art galleries, museums, or other cultural spaces
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic cleaning and organization skills
- Experience with MS 365, Adobe Suite, and/or Google
- Experience with point-of-sale software, like Shopify, a plus!
Working Conditions
This position will be required to work primarily in an indoor business environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation required:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 50% of the time
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, bends, stoops, pushes and pulls
- Constantly positions self in work environment
- The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors vendors and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions
- Must be able to detect objects at a distance
- On occasion will move up to 50 pounds of objects
- Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that may require travel in outdoor weather conditions
- Operates basic carpentry tools such as drills, hammer, ladders
