Description
The Teaching Assistant will be working in a classroom environment with students 5 to 15, working in various art media and supporting the Education Coordinator on admin items. Their main duties include assisting with utilizing a lesson plan, programming, and classroom management.
Responsibilities
- Project prep
- Classroom cleaning and organization
- Assistant teaching Art After School
- Assist with school outreach programming
- Attend and assist with special events, both onsite and off
Preferred Qualifications
- Enjoy teaching/mentoring youth
- Familiarity with visual art and classroom dynamics
- Ability to follow a lesson plan
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with MS 365, Adobe Suite, and/or Google
Working Conditions
This position will be required to work primarily in an indoor business environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation required:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 50% of the time
- Operates a computer and other office productivity machines
- Frequent sitting and standing
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, bends, stoops, pushes and pulls
- Constantly positions self in work environment
- The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions
- Must be able to detect objects at a distance
- On occasion will move up to 50 pounds of objects
- Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that may require travel in outdoor weather conditions
