The Advertising Intern is responsible for providing support for the sales and marketing of ads in two student media outlets – The Observer and PULSE magazine. The intern will report to the Student Media Business Manager and the Faculty Adviser and assist with all business needs related to sales support.
The Advertising Intern’s primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Learn about and embrace the goals of independent journalism
- Devise a marketing campaign for a “Week of Welcome” orientation issue
- Help create a leads list of potential local advertisers
- Contact leads via email blasts, phone calls and in-person meetings
- Sell advertisements for print publications and digital platforms
- Brainstorm with advertising team to create new marketing ideas to engage a larger audience
- Assist with special projects and other details as assigned
